How to Delete Pages from a PDF (or Keep Only the Ones You Want)

2026-07-21

Most PDFs arrive with pages nobody needs: a cover sheet, a blank separator between scanned sections, a page of boilerplate terms appended to every export, or simply the seventy-seven pages of a report that are not the three you were asked to review.

Step by step

  1. Open the Delete PDF Pages tool.
  2. Drop in your PDF.
  3. Type the pages — numbers and ranges separated by commas, like 1-3, 7, 12-14.
  4. Choose whether to remove those pages or keep only those pages.
  5. Click Remove pages and download the result.

Remove versus keep

Both modes exist because the right one depends on the ratio. If you want to strip a cover sheet and two blanks out of forty pages, list them and remove. If you want three pages out of eighty, listing the seventy-seven to remove is absurd — flip to "keep only these pages" and list the three.

Will it make the file smaller?

Usually, but rarely in proportion. Embedded fonts, colour profiles and other shared resources stay in the file even when the pages using them are gone. If size is the actual goal, run Compress PDF afterwards — that is the tool built for it.

What is preserved

The surviving pages are copied across exactly: text stays selectable, images keep their resolution, and formatting is untouched. Bookmarks that pointed at removed pages will no longer resolve, which is unavoidable once the target no longer exists.

A related tool

If you also want to reorder or rotate what remains, Organize PDF gives you a visual page grid instead of a range box.
