How to Fill Out a PDF Form Online

2026-10-10 · themgdev team

A fillable PDF already contains fields for names, dates, checkboxes and choices. You do not need to print the form or place text boxes by hand. A PDF form filler reads those fields directly and saves your answers back into the document.

How to fill out a PDF form

  1. Open the PDF Form Filler.
  2. Add the form from your device.
  3. Complete each text field, checkbox, dropdown, list or radio button shown.
  4. Choose whether the answers should stay editable or be locked into the page.
  5. Download the completed PDF and review it in a PDF viewer.

Editable copy or locked copy?

Keep the form editable if you expect to revise it or if the recipient must add more information. Lock the values when the document is ready to submit. Locking, also called flattening, turns the answers into page content so they cannot be cleared by accident or displayed differently by another viewer.

Save an editable copy before flattening an important application. A flattened file is meant to be final.

Why does my PDF have no fields?

Some documents look like forms but are only scanned pages or ordinary PDFs with blank lines. A form filler cannot invent interactive fields that are not in the file. Use Edit PDF to place text and check marks on those documents.

If the page is faint, crooked or difficult to read, check it with PDF Scan Doctor before entering personal details.

Check these details before submitting

  • Make sure dates use the format requested by the form.
  • Check that required boxes and consent fields are selected.
  • Open the downloaded file again to confirm every answer was saved.
  • Use Sign PDF if the form needs a visible signature.

The form is processed in your browser. Personal, financial and application details stay on your device.
