How to Print Multiple PDF Pages on One Sheet

Putting several pages on one sheet is one of the oldest tricks in document printing and it still solves real problems. A forty-page deck becomes ten sheets of handouts. A long report becomes something you can skim side by side. A proof print stops costing a ream of paper.
Step by step
- Open the Multiple Pages Per Sheet tool.
- Drop in your PDF.
- Choose 2, 4, 6 or 9 pages per sheet.
- Adjust the spacing between pages, then download the new file.
Why not just use the printer driver?
You can, and for a one-off it is fine. But printer drivers vary between machines, the setting is easy to lose between jobs, and you cannot share the result. Producing the file itself means it looks identical on every printer, can be emailed as a handout, and can be checked before anything is printed.
Which layout to choose
- 2-up — the one to use when the result still has to be read. Roughly paperback size and genuinely comfortable.
- 4-up — good for slides, which carry little text. Marginal for reports.
- 6-up and 9-up — for visual review rather than reading: contact sheets, design comps, checking a layout across a whole document at a glance.
How pages are placed
Each source page is scaled to fit its cell and centred, so nothing is cropped and proportions are preserved. Pages run left to right, top to bottom, in reading order — which is what people expect when they pick a sheet up.
Tip: standardise the size first
If your document mixes page sizes, run Resize PDF Pages first. The sheets take their dimensions from the first page, so a consistent source gives a consistent result.
